‘’Sunny, you know what’s out
there beyond our borders? A big sack full of stories. It’s a wasteland. No, no, it’s a paradise. It’s a – whatever. Nobody knows what is and ain’t true. And besides, Quinn will never let you go. You walk out on him,
he’ll hunt you down,
track you to the edge of this world, and then, sure as shit,
he will slit your throat.
AMC’s Into the Badlands is a pulp fiction show – both episodes I saw this past weekend started and ended with a martial arts extravaganza. The show centers around Sunny, the head enforcer for Baron Quinn. Sunny`s loyalty begins to break when he meets a young teen named MK who has hails from a mysterious city outside the Badlands and has mysterious martial prowess of his own.
It`s a weird blend of Southern political intrigue mixed with graphic martial arts violence. It`s great to see an Asian-American man be the lead of a tv show. It might not be a critical hit like Mad Men or Breaking Bad, but it`s damn entertaining.
